DENR urges tree-planting activities

LIMAY, Bataan — Department of Environment and Natural Resources is calling on the public to initiate tree-planting and tree-growing programs as a way of protecting the environment from future natural disasters.
DENR assistant regional director Laudemir Salac assured that the Provincial and Community DENR offices in Bataan headed by Raul Mamac — together with the local government units — are consistently monitoring and maintaining the growth of the trees planted.
In a related development, Camille Bartolome of the Philippine Information Agency reported that some 1,000 tree seedlings of narra, bamboo, and cashew were planted in barangays Lamao and Alangan in Limay, Bataan.
This is part of the "Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan" nationwide simultaneous tree planting activity of Department of the Interior and Local Government, DENR and Department of Agriculture in collaboration with other national government agencies and LGUs.
