Alex Eala made history early Sunday (Manila time) after sweeping Lucie Havlickova of the Czech Republic, 6-2, 6-4, in the Final to claim the US Open Juniors girls' singles title at Flushing Meadows in New York.
The 17-year-old star was all business right from the opening serve as she delivered a sensational performance to become the first Filipino to win a Grand Slam singles crown.
She has previously won two championships in the doubles event in 2020 in the Australian Open and last year in the French Open.
The scholar of the Rafael Nadal Academy needed only 67 minutes to finally finish off Havlickova and complete a Grand Slam conquest after a year of competing in the professional ranks.
Eala hurdled Canadian Victoria Mboko, 6-1, 7-6, in the semifinal early Saturday.
