The local currency recorded its weakest against the dollar, closing Monday at 56.99.
For the second straight trading day, the peso fell to an all-time low, surpassing the 56.77 closing on Friday, 2 September. It is the weakest closing for the peso since hitting 56.45 on 27 September 2004.
It opened at 56.85 and traded from 56.80 to 57.00, resulting in an average of 56.941. Volume reached $976.45 million, slightly higher than $936.95 million on Friday.
