Manila Vice Mayor Yul Servo said Saturday he wants to upgrade the Manila City Council's record-keeping, particularly regarding its ordinances dating back to 1908.

Servo told Manila beat reporters that he is giving himself one year to computerize the records from the oldest to the latest.

He lamented that the city's record-keeping has not matched technological advancement, adding many ordinances are not searchable on Google.

The Vice Mayor said keeping track of the ordinances could help people realize how laws should change with the times.

He cited as an example the obsolete law that barred people from visiting Escolta, the commercial district of Manila, if they were not wearing white.
