News anchor and broadcaster Erwin Tulfo has been declared persona non grata in Cainta, Rizal province for unsavory remarks he made against Mayor Johnielle Keith Pasion “Kit” Nieto.
The Cainta council yesterday passed the resolution against Tulfo following strong public clamor to bar the broadcast journalist from ever setting foot in their town.
As persona non grata, Tulfo will not be welcome in Cainta.
The declaration stemmed from a viral Facebook post of the broadcast journalist criticizing the Cainta mayor for riding a motorcycle without a helmet heading towards to a nearby church to attend a wedding, saying the local chief executive was so “dull” for doing such thing.
In a Facebook post on Friday, Nieto has apologized for riding a motorcycle without a helmet, saying that he offers no excuses for breaching the law; thus, he’s not exempted from complying with what is required by the law.
The Cainta mayor on Monday went to the Land Transportation Office to secure a citation ticket.
He also said that he will go to the Department of the Interior and Local Government office to face any disciplinary sanction.
In June 2019, the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. also declared Tulfo persona non grata following his outburst against Social Welfare Secretary and former Philippine Army chief Rolando Bautista.
