The Philippine National Police (PNP) formally presented newly procured equipment on Wednesday morning, April 1, during a ceremony held at Camp BGen Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City, aimed at strengthening the force’s operational readiness and field capability.

The event was led by PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. and attended by members of the command group, senior officers, and select members of the media.

The newly acquired assets fall under the Capability Enhancement Program (CEP) for fiscal year 2025 and Congress-Introduced Changes and Adjustments (CICA) for fiscal year 2024.

Under CEP 2025, the PNP received equipment worth over Php244 million, including 800 sets of civil disturbance management gear, 3,711 all-purpose waistcoat vests, 600 sets of non-lethal equipment, and 403 units of autogated night vision devices.

Meanwhile, CICA 2024 funded additional resources amounting to more than Php262 million, consisting of 117 units of 4x4 personnel carriers and 71 light motorcycles intended to improve police mobility and response.

Nartatez said the new equipment would enhance the operational capability of police units nationwide, particularly tourist police, by strengthening crime prevention efforts and increasing police visibility in key areas.

“This will enhance the capability of our police units to prevent focus crimes in their respective areas. Ang mga kagamitang ito ay makakatulong upang mas mapalakas ang ating police visibility at response, pati na rin sa pagpapabuti ng patrolling at proteksyon sa ating tourism industry,” he said.

He added that the equipment would be immediately deployed, especially with the upcoming Holy Week and summer vacation period, when public safety demands are expected to increase.

The acquisition supports the PNP’s broader agenda on resource management, ensuring that newly procured assets are efficiently utilized to improve service delivery and operational readiness.
