Manila authorities have released a comprehensive traffic and rerouting plan in anticipation of the Jesus Nazarene procession scheduled for Good Friday. The 3.8-kilometer religious trek will result in significant road closures and diverted traffic beginning the evening of 2 through 3 April.
The procession is set to begin at Plaza Miranda and will weave through several key thoroughfares, including Villalobos, Carlos Palanca, and Quezon Boulevard. The route continues through Arlegui, Fraternal, and Vergara before moving onto Duque De Alba, Farnecio and Legarda.
Devotees will then navigate Concepcion Aguila, Carcer, and Hidalgo streets, eventually passing through Bilibid Viejo, Guzman, and back to Quezon Boulevard before returning to the Quiapo Church via Villalobos.
To accommodate the influx of participants, several major roads will be closed starting at 7 p.m. on 2 April. Affected areas include the northbound and southbound lanes of Quezon Boulevard from Mendoza to Quezon Bridge, as well as the westbound lane of España Boulevard from P. Campa to Lerma Street.
Other closures involve the stretch of S.H. Loyola from C.M. Recto to Bilibid Viejo, and the westbound lane of Legarda from C.M. Recto to Carlos Palanca. Street-level closures will also affect Arlegui, San Rafael, Gonzalo Puyat and Evangelista as the procession moves through the district.
