PNP, PNPA secure P678M for new buildings

Newport World Resorts Foundation Inc. (NWRFI), the charitable arm of Newport World Resorts, committed P678 million on Wednesday for the construction of new facilities for the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA).
The funding covers P379 million for the construction of the Lakan Leadership Hall at the PNPA in Silang, Cavite, and P299 million for a new PNP office building at Camp Brig. Gen. Rafael T. Crame in Quezon City.
Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) chairperson and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco witnessed the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the PNPA facility and attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Camp Crame project.
Speaking at the PNPA ceremony Wednesday morning, Tengco said the Lakan Leadership Hall demonstrates how the regulated gaming sector can contribute to national development by supporting institutions that train future law enforcement officers.
“More than an infrastructure investment, this is an investment in people, particularly in the future leaders of our police service,” Tengco said.
The four-story Lakan Leadership Hall will feature conference and function rooms, a simulation room, lecture halls, viewing decks, and temporary lodging for visiting lecturers and professors.
Tengco stressed that providing adequate infrastructure is essential to preparing police officers for public service challenges.
“It is important to provide them with facilities they can use, not only as police officers but as leaders capable of facing the challenges of public service,” Tengco said.
Later in the day, Tengco joined law enforcement officials at Camp Crame for the groundbreaking of the P299- million office building.
The modern workspace will support police personnel development, training, wellness and operational readiness programs.
“To the men and women of the Philippine National Police, we recognize the demands of your work, your commitment to duty, and most of all your sacrifices for our people,” Tengco said. “May this project serve as a reminder that you always have partners in fulfilling your duty to the nation.”
NWRFI chairperson and president Nilo Thaddeus Rodriguez reaffirmed the foundation’s dedication to supporting public sector initiatives.
“The foundation will continue to support initiatives that provide essential resources and facilities for those dedicated to public service,” Rodriguez said.
PAGCOR requires foundations of licensed gaming operators to allocate a portion of their revenues to socio-civic initiatives to direct regulated gaming funds toward public infrastructure and community programs.
