PRO 1, Northern Luzon college partner for police dependents’ scholarships

The Police Regional Office 1 (PRO 1) has partnered with Saint John Bosco College of Northern Luzon Inc. (SJBCNL) to provide scholarship opportunities for qualified beneficiaries, particularly dependents of active police personnel in the Ilocos Region.
The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed on October 15, 2026, at the PRO 1 Conference Room at Camp BGen Oscar M. Florendo in San Fernando City, La Union.
Under the agreement, eligible dependents of active Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel in Region 1 may avail themselves of scholarship assistance, subject to the program's eligibility criteria, coverage, retention requirements and implementing guidelines.
PCOL Eduardo C. Abaday (Ret.), vice president of SJBCNL, said the initiative reflects the school's commitment to supporting police personnel and their families by helping provide access to education.
He said securing the educational future of police officers' children would help ease the concerns of their parents and allow them to focus on their duties.
PRO 1 Regional Director PBGEN Crisaleo R. Tolentino, meanwhile, said the partnership forms part of efforts to strengthen personnel welfare and morale by recognizing the role of police families in supporting public service.
Tolentino said helping police officers secure educational opportunities for their children could ease their financial and personal concerns, allowing them to serve with greater dedication.
The scholarship program is intended to expand access to education for qualified beneficiaries while providing additional support to police personnel and their families.
PRO 1 said the agreement also highlights the importance of partnerships with private educational institutions in advancing personnel welfare and strengthening the police force's capacity to deliver public service.
