    • Atty. Manases “Mans” Carpio

The Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office dismissed a complaint filed by lawyer Manases “Mans” Carpio over the disclosure of his confidential financial information, citing lack of jurisdiction.

Carpio’s lawyer, Atty. Peter Paul Danao, said Tuesday that the 7 September resolution dismissed the complaint without prejudice, meaning it did not resolve the allegations on their merits.

“We acknowledge the September 7, 2026 Resolution of the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office recommending the dismissal of our client’s complaint against the respondents,” Carpio’s lawyer Peter Paul Danao said in a statement.

“The Resolution therefore does not constitute a final determination on the merits of the allegations raised in the complaint,” he added. Danao said they were still awaiting the official copy of the resolution and would determine their next legal move after reviewing it.

“At the very least, our client retains the option to refile the complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman,” he said.

Carpio filed the complaint in April after the House Committee on Justice publicly discussed Anti-Money Laundering Council records involving him and Vice President Sara Duterte during proceedings on Duterte’s impeachment.

AMLC executive director Ronel Buenaventura told the House panel that the council had recorded about P6.77 billion in covered and suspicious transactions linked to the couple between 2006 and 2025. The council attributed about P3.77 billion to Duterte and P2.99 billion to Carpio.

Carpio denied having such amounts in his accounts and challenged not only the figures but also the disclosure of the AMLC information itself.
