The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has requested P2.7 billion under the fiscal year 2027 National Expenditure Program to fund its e-government initiatives and expand its eGovPH super app.

The agency is seeking approximately P800 million specifically for the eGovPH application as part of the P2.7 billion allocation. The request forms part of the agency's total P18 billion budget proposal within the proposed P7.2 trillion national budget.

Developed entirely in-house by agency personnel, the eGovPH app and 28 connected platforms host 1,332 government services across 95 operational modules.

Usage of the system grew by approximately 700 percent over the past year, processing more than 900 million total transactions.

"More than 92 million digital national IDs have been issued through it, and its identity verification layer, eVerify, has completed over 300 million checks for government agencies, banks and financial service providers," said David L. Almirol Jr., DICT Undersecretary for e-Government.

The proposed 2027 funding targets four main priorities: expanding cloud server capacity to handle peak demand, rolling out an artificial intelligence tool called eGovAI to automate document processing, digitizing business permit systems for local government units, and initiating the migration of offshore-hosted government data back to domestic servers.

Almirol said the agency plans to partner with local technology firms and developers from recent hackathons for future platform maintenance, noting that internal development capacity has reached its operational limits.

The budget proposal is under congressional review pursuant to Republic Act 12254, the E-Governance Act, which mandates the expansion and maintenance of the national digital government framework.
