CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Troops of the Army’s 30th Infantry (Fight On) Battalion, 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, on Thursday recovered an arms cache in the vicinity of Signalnan, Sitio Katarugan, Barangay Lobo, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.

Lt. Col. Vergel Annogui, commanding officer of the 30th IB, said in a report that the successful operation led to the recovery of one M14 rifle, one M1 Garand rifle, five 20-round-capacity detachable box magazines, 32 rounds of .30-caliber ammunition and 89 rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition.

The operation is expected to further contribute to reducing the remnants’ capability to conduct armed activities and reinforce the Philippine Army’s continuing efforts to secure communities and prevent the resurgence of armed conflict in previously affected areas.

“This successful recovery demonstrates our troops’ unwavering commitment to protecting our communities and sustaining the gains we have achieved in our areas of responsibilit’” he said.

"We will continue to pursue every effort to prevent these weapons from being used to threaten our people and disrupt the peace. We likewise call on our communities to remain vigilant and continue working with us in building a safer, more peaceful, and progressive Surigao,” Annogui added.
