Search for missing Sagada minor continues as command post closes

SAGADA, Mountain Province — The search for missing minor Sofia Isabela Magalgalit Oria will continue through community-led efforts despite the termination of the Incident Command Post after 14 days of intensive search and rescue operations.
While the primary command center at Dagdag Base has ended its daily ground deployments, the Emergency Operations Center remains active to coordinate efforts, process incoming information and monitor continuing searches in Sagada and neighboring areas, including sections of the Chico River in Kalinga.
Sofia was last seen on the night of 8 August and was reported missing the following day.
During the 14-day intensive search, government responders, civilian volunteers, specialized K9 teams and local guides combed mountain terrain, waterways, caves and forests. Teams also monitored river channels extending toward downstream areas in neighboring towns.
Search activities had previously been temporarily scaled back to observe local traditional rest periods and allow exhausted responders and community members to recover.
Despite the end of formal incident command operations, residents, municipal volunteers and Sofia’s family continue targeted searches along trails and river systems based on potential leads and physical evidence.
Authorities continue to appeal for verified sightings or information that could help locate Sofia and urged the public to immediately report relevant information to local emergency officials.
