Kim Chiu continues to extend her reach beyond Philippine entertainment, this time earning recognition from South Korea after emerging as Best Global Star at the iMBC Awards.

The Filipina actress and television host secured the distinction through fan voting, placing ahead of Thai stars Rachanun Mahawan and Tipnaree Weerawatnodom, who finished second and third in the category.

Adding another Filipino presence to the international rankings was Kim’s onscreen partner Paulo Avelino, who landed in fifth place.

Kim celebrated the achievement with a simple but heartfelt message to the supporters who rallied behind her.

“Maraming, maraming salamat po!” she wrote on X.

The award marks another international milestone for Kim, whose audience has expanded beyond the Philippines in recent years. Her tandem with Paulo has also attracted followers overseas through their television and screen projects.

The iMBC Awards likewise recognized some of South Korea’s biggest names, with Byeon Woo-seok receiving Best Actor and IU taking the Best Actress honor.

Kim’s latest achievement adds a new chapter to a career that has evolved from reality television discovery to becoming one of the Philippines’ most enduring actresses and hosts. Nearly two decades since entering show business, she continues to find new audiences—this time with international fans helping carry her name to another major recognition abroad.

The iMBC Awards is presented by iMBC Entertainment, the digital media arm associated with South Korean broadcaster Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation.
