  • A total of 119 individuals were arrested in a weeklong series of police operations across Cagayan Valley as the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO 2) intensified its campaign against criminality from 6 to 12 August 2026.

The arrests were made through Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO) targeting wanted persons, illegal drugs, loose firearms, illegal logging and other violations.

Police records showed that 77 wanted persons were arrested, including three most wanted persons and 74 other wanted individuals in separate operations across the region.

Meanwhile, 22 anti-illegal drug operations led to the arrest of 28 suspects and the seizure of 40.38 grams of suspected shabu worth about P266,544, based on standard drug prices. Police also confiscated 9.32 grams of marijuana valued at about P1,238, bringing the total estimated value of the seized drugs to P267,782.

Five people were arrested in five operations under Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, with five firearms confiscated. Another 20 firearms and seven explosives were voluntarily surrendered or recovered with the assistance of civilians.

The campaign also resulted in the arrest of nine individuals in seven operations for alleged violations of Presidential Decree No. 705, or the Revised Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines. Authorities confiscated 5,029 board feet of illegally sourced lumber valued at about P234,896.

Five other individuals were arrested in three operations for various violations of law.

Separately, police reported the apprehension of 12,683 individuals for violations of local ordinances under the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s “Safer Cities” initiative for highly urbanized cities.

PRO 2 Regional Director PBGen Mariano C. Rodriguez said the operations reflected the regional police force’s continuing efforts to maintain peace and order across Cagayan Valley.

“We will continue to intensify our operations against wanted persons, illegal drugs, loose firearms, illegal logging, and other threats to peace and order,” Rodriguez said.

He said the operations were not merely about the number of arrests and confiscations but about protecting communities and holding law violators accountable.

“With the continued support and cooperation of the public, PRO 2 remains steadfast in fulfilling its duty to keep the Cagayan Valley safe and peaceful,” Rodriguez said.
