Lawyers of the Rondain and Mendional Law Firm were summoned by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in its probe of an alleged plot to frame Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag said Atty. Ruy Rondain, who also represents resigned lawmaker Elizaldy Co, was summoned by the NBI along with three lawyers from the firm based on the allegations of a talent manager identified publicly only as “Alias Ken” and another witness called “Alias Jen.”

Matibag said the four lawyers from an Ortigas Center law firm were issued subpoenas requiring them to appear before the bureau on 14 August 2026.

The arrested talent manager told the NBI about the plot against Recto supposedly involving drafting fabricated statements from women about their sexual relations.

The lawyers were allegedly helping prepare the affidavits and the said talent manager told probers that former Congressman Jacinto Paras called him out about the plan.

Apparently, Alias Ken met with Paras about the alleged plot on 11, 15, and 26 and the lawyers were present and the bureau has copies of the CCTV footage of 15 and 26 July meetings.

Matibag said that on 15 July CCTV footage Cong. Paras was seen with Alias Ken and the lawyers.

The affidavit of the arrested talent manager and the women contained various claims about alleged drug use and sexual favors.

The NBI chief said the story is detailed and they prepare it with the lawyers who are coaching them what they will say.

On the other hand, Alias Jen told the NBI that she did not attend the 26 July meeting because she became afraid.

The NBI probe will ask the four summoned lawyers from Rondain’s firm about the meeting, whether they confirm their presence and what the meeting was about.

Matibag said that another lawyer from Rondain & Mendiola, a woman, was not in the meeting, but she is representing Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste, who has also been summoned to the NBI for its probe.

He said Alias Ken quoted the lawyers as saying that Leviste would finance the alleged plot.

Leviste and Paras have denied involvement in the alleged scheme.
