  • If you’re still not over Love for You, we have good news: Rakuten Viki is already serving up your next C-drama fix.

Following the July 31 finale of Love for You, Overdo is now streaming on Rakuten Viki. Starring Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan, this Republican-era romance brings betrayal, secret identities, second chances and enough emotional damage to keep you glued to the screen.

Here’s why Overdo deserves a spot on your watchlist.

    1. Love for You Was Kind of a Big Deal

Before diving into Overdo, let’s talk about the C-drama that had viewers locked in.

Love for You ranked No. 1 in weekly viewership on Viki across multiple regions worldwide during its premiere week. It also remained among the platform’s Top 2 most-watched titles throughout its simulcast run.

The reason? A nostalgic romance, emotionally layered characters and two major young stars at the center of it all. Basically, the formula was working.

    2. Love for You Served First Love, Heartbreak and Second Chances

Set in the 1990s, Love for You follows Chen Yi and Miao Jing, played by Song Weilong and Zhang Jingyi.

The two meet through their parents, and their relationship starts out on pretty uncertain terms. But after personal loss brings them closer, they begin relying on each other while dealing with complicated family circumstances.

Their story takes viewers through first love, separation and the possibility of finding their way back to each other — aka an emotional roller coaster in the best way.

    3. Overdo Takes the Angst Up Several Notches

If Love for You gave you butterflies, Overdo is here to give you butterflies and emotional damage.

Set in Republican-era Shanghai, the series follows Murong Qing Yi, a doctor who has endured years of abuse from his birth mother after being mistakenly switched at birth.

While working in another city, Qing Yi discovers a series of letters that lead him to Ren Su Su, an orphan who has secrets of her own. As they slowly get closer, their connection turns into love.

    And then everything falls apart.

    4. Betrayal + Secret Identities + A Very Complicated Reunion = Drama

Su Su makes a desperate choice to save someone close to her, but the decision comes with devastating consequences.

Qing Yi is left permanently scarred, falsely imprisoned and convinced that Su Su has died.

Three years later, she returns under a new identity — and she’s engaged to Qing Yi’s brother.

Yeah. It’s that kind of drama.

Qing Yi believes Su Su betrayed him, while she’s hiding a painful truth she can’t bring herself to reveal. As they confront each other, old feelings and resentment come rushing back, making it increasingly difficult to tell where love ends and hatred begins.

And just when things start getting even more complicated, the country is plunged into crisis, forcing the pair to face the conflict together.

    5. Zhang Linghe and Wang Churan Are Bringing the Chemistry

At the center of Overdo are two of China’s most talked-about young stars.

Zhang Linghe has quickly risen through the ranks with dramas including Story of Kunning Palace, The Princess Royal, Pursuit of Jade and Love’s Rebellion.

Wang Churan, meanwhile, is known for emotionally nuanced performances in Fireworks of My Heart, Are You the One, Serenade of Peaceful Joy and Have a Crush on You.

Together, they bring plenty of tension to a romance built around longing, betrayal, resentment and feelings that clearly refuse to stay buried.

From First Love to Full-On Emotional Chaos

Love for You and Overdo may tell very different stories, but both highlight why C-dramas continue to connect with audiences around the world.

One gives us a nostalgic modern romance filled with first love and homecoming. The other brings a sweeping period romance packed with sacrifice, secrets, betrayal and conflict.

So, if you’ve just finished Love for You and are sitting there wondering, “What am I supposed to watch now?” — Overdo might be your answer.

All episodes of Love for You and Overdo are now available to stream on Rakuten Viki in select regions.
