After more than a year since releasing its last EP, Filipino band SunKissed Lola is making its return with “Edi Magalit Ka,” a heartfelt single that reminds listeners that love is often about choosing understanding over winning an argument.

Known for emotionally driven hits such as “Pasilyo,” “Paki Sabi,” and “Makalimutan Ka,” the band’s latest release transforms a familiar Filipino expression into a tender message about patience, forgiveness and staying committed even when relationships face challenges.

Lead vocalist Laura Lacbain said the song reflects the reality that disagreements are inevitable but should never outweigh love.

“Hindi maiiwasan ang away sa relationship, pero hindi pa rin mawawala ang love. Susuyuin pa rin sa huli (Arguments in a relationship are inevitable, but the love remains. In the end, there will still be making up),” she said.

For vocalist and guitarist Alvin “Bino” Serito, the track serves as a reminder that relationships matter more than personal pride.

“No one has to win. I will always choose the relationship over the argument,” he said, adding that even after misunderstandings, a loved one remains “your favorite person to come home to.”

The song has been years in the making. Originally written in 2021, its earliest version carried a more defiant tone before the band reworked the lyrics to create a gentler and more emotionally open message. Guitarist Dan Ombao said subtle changes, including the addition of the phrase “’Di ba?,” helped soften the overall feel of the track.

Musically, “Edi Magalit Ka” also signals a more refined direction for SunKissed Lola. What began as an acoustic composition gradually evolved into a warm, stripped-down arrangement that highlights the song’s lyrics while allowing each member to contribute naturally to its final sound.

Bassist Danj Quimson said the group intentionally kept the production simple so listeners could focus on the song’s message, while drummer Genson Viloria described it as instantly familiar and catchy from the first listen.

As SunKissed Lola approaches its fifth anniversary, the band believes the single represents a more mature stage in its journey.

“We know our strengths and now we are able to maximize it. We are more intentional in releasing this song,” Bino said.

Beyond marking the band’s comeback, “Edi Magalit Ka” also sets the tone for what’s ahead, with the group teasing more music, live performances and opportunities to connect with fans.
