The provincial government conducted sandbagging operation to prevent a dike at Barangay Sta. Catalina from spilling over in the town of Minalin, Pampanga on 10 August 2026.

Led by Vice Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda and Minalin Mayor Philip Naguit, the operation was a collaboration between the two local government units.

To further strengthen the operation, Gvernor Lilia "Nanay" Pineda sent additional sandbags to the area as part of the initial intervention of the provincial government to support the local government of Minalin.

The operation aims to stop the spill over of floodwater from the dam and protect the fish farms, livelihood, and properties of the residents in the midst of continuous heavy rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon.

Around 4,300 sandbags were delivered and placed by the provincial government on the over spilling dike. The provincial government also sent three truckloads of sand, as well as 2,000 sacks that can be used as additional sandbags in the area.

The provincial government continues to monitor and help LGUs in need to ensure the safety of the people and their livelihood.
