The alleged victims of jailed religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, in their pursuit of justice, both here and abroad, will be factors the Department of Justice (DoJ) will consider in the ongoing evaluation of the request for the sect leader’s extradition to the United States.

This was according to Justice Secretary Frederick Vida, saying the Justice Department will consider all relevant facts, including the pending criminal cases filed against Quiboloy before local courts and the interests of complainants seeking redress.

Vida said everything will be weighed, as these are factual settings that they need to evaluate.

The DoJ’s review would include Quiboloy’s pending cases in local courts, as they will study the current cases and the pending cases before local courts.

Resolve pending complaints

He said all facts will be taken into consideration, along with relevant circumstances, particularly those pending before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court.

The complainants in the Philippines who have pending criminal cases are also victims who sought redress of their grievance and are seeking justice in this regard.

The extradition documents were received by the DoJ on 7 August and formally transmitted by the Department of Foreign Affairs concerning the US request for Quiboloy’s extradition.

Earlier, Vida said the DoJ would evaluate and fact-check the documents and determine their compliance with the Philippine-US Extradition Treaty, applicable laws, Supreme Court rules and relevant jurisprudence.

Quiboloy is wanted by US authorities on charges of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking, sex trafficking of children and bulk cash smuggling.
