Alvin Murcia·31 July 2026

  • The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday confirmed it had received from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) the documents related to the United States' request to extradite detained pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

DOJ spokesperson Assistant Secretary Jose Dominic "Polo" Martinez said the agency received the documents from the DFA on 7 August.

"Yes. We confirm the receipt of voluminous documents from the DFA earlier today, 7 August 2026," Martinez said.

The DFA earlier transmitted the US extradition request to the DOJ, which will evaluate the documents and determine the next steps under the Philippines-US Extradition Treaty and existing extradition procedures.

Quiboloy, founder of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC), is wanted by US authorities on charges of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking, sex trafficking of children, and bulk cash smuggling.

He is also facing criminal charges in Philippine courts, including non-bailable qualified human trafficking charges before the Pasig City Regional Trial Court, as well as child abuse and sexual abuse cases that were originally filed in Davao City but are now being heard by a Quezon City court.

Quiboloy has denied the allegations, maintaining that the cases against him are politically and religiously motivated.
