  • The Pokémon Company announced that Part 1: Bubbly Basin of the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass will be released on Wednesday, 5 August, alongside the game’s Ver. 2.0.0 free software update for Nintendo Switch 2.

According to the company, the expansion pass will be released in three parts, with Part 1: Bubbly Basin arriving first, Part 2 scheduled for late 2026, and Part 3 planned for 2027. Players will be able to access the new content using their existing save data.

The new Bubbly Basin area introduces an underwater town where players, accompanied by Popplio, can complete requests from various Pokémon to gradually develop the settlement. Access to the DLC requires installing the Ver. 2.0.0 update, learning the newly added move Dive, and completing the “Raise the environment level!” request in Bleak Beach.

Among the new gameplay features are watermelons as a growable crop, buoyant blocks that allow players to construct floating underwater structures, and bubble machines that can be powered by Pokémon with the Generate specialty.

The expansion also adds underwater-themed furniture, new adventures in the deep sea, additional outfits, Pokémon, smoothies and enhanced functionality for the move Surf. Players who obtain a Starmie doll will also gain access to a previously unavailable Dream Island.

The company also revealed new details about Part 2 of the Expansion Pass, which will introduce an accessories feature allowing players to dress up alongside Pokémon. Additional furniture and Pokémon are also planned, although no new town will be added in the second installment.

Players who purchase the Expansion Pass will receive a dynamic Ditto print recipe for crafting blocks and wallpaper. Those who purchase the pass by 31 August 2027 will also receive a serial code redeemable for 30 rare Pokémetal ingots.

The simultaneous Ver. 2.0.0 free update introduces the new move Dive, which allows players to freely explore underwater areas, construct crop fields and relaxation spaces beneath the sea, and connect land and underwater locations using railway tracks.

In addition, a limited-time in-game event titled “Fetching Scales for Feebas” will run from 13 to 28 August, allowing players to collect prism scales, befriend Feebas and Milotic, and unlock swimming-themed furniture and other rewards.

Originally released on 5 March 2026, Pokémon Pokopia is a slow-life sandbox game for Nintendo Switch 2 developed by The Pokémon Company, GAME FREAK Inc. and KOEI TECMO GAMES. The title supports single-player and multiplayer gameplay with local or internet connectivity.
