  • Manny Pacquiao insists that a rematch with Floyd Mayweather is bound to happen in 2027.

“Our fight just got postponed,” Pacquiao said on Friday at the sidelines of his pickleball tournament’s formal launch at the Dusit Thani in Makati City.

The eight-division champion made it clear that their second meeting won’t be an exhibition but a professional match.

“Real fight,” Pacquiao said, brushing off claims that the rematch with the unbeaten American will just be an exhibition.

A clearer picture of what’s on the horizon for the Filipino star will be known soon as Pacquiao is scheduled to fly to the United States this weekend.

They were supposed to face off this September in Las Vegas but it got called off owing to Mayweather’s legal woes and prior commitments.

“He got an exhibition lined up,” Pacquiao added.

Last time he fought professionally, Pacquiao drew with Mario Barrios for the World Boxing Council welterweight crown in Las Vegas.

Many ringsiders thought that Pacquiao, who turned pro in January 1995, did enough to merit the decision.

Turning 48 this December, Pacquiao plans to use his newly-opened gym in Los Angeles as site of his training camp for the Mayweather showdown.

The first time they fought in May 2015, Mayweather was awarded a 12-round unanimous decision.

It generated more than $600 million in revenue and while a rematch won’t draw the same figures, it is still expected to make a killing given Pacquiao and Mayweather’s immense popularity and track record.

Meanwhile, reigning International Boxing Federation minimumweight champion Pedro Taduran could end up risking his crown for the fourth time against Spanish contender Brandon Moreno.

Manila or Cebu is being eyed as venue for Taduran’s title defense, according to American dealmaker Sean Gibbons, who is working closely with Elorde siblings Cucuy and Marty to hold the fight.

Taduran stopped Mexican Gustavo Perez Alvarez last April in Temecula, California.
