More businesses will gain access to a more reliable power supply and greater flexibility in choosing their electricity provider after FDC Misamis Power Corp. (FDC Misamis) signed a two-year power supply agreement with Vivant Energy's retail electricity arm, COREnergy.

The company said Friday the agreement will allow COREnergy to secure an additional 20 megawatts of electricity from FDC Misamis, strengthening its supply portfolio for contestable customers under the Retail Competition and Open Access (RCOA) program.

The added capacity is expected to help the retailer serve more commercial and industrial customers nationwide while improving supply reliability.

"This partnership with COREnergy allows us to extend the dependable power supply of FDC Misamis to more commercial and industrial customers through the retail electricity market," said Juan Eugenio L. Roxas, president and chief executive officer of FDC Misamis.

"The agreement reflects our shared commitment to forging strong industry partnerships and delivering reliable energy that supports business activity and economic growth," he added.

For COREnergy, the agreement reinforces its ability to meet growing customer demand as it expands its reach beyond Metro Manila.

"Our customers are growing, and so is our responsibility to power that growth," said Michael Lasam, head of commercial operations and strategy at COREnergy.

"This partnership with FDC Misamis adds meaningful capacity to our portfolio, giving us the flexibility to serve businesses beyond Metro Manila, with a stronger and more resilient supply portfolio. It's a step forward in delivering the Power of Choice—as more businesses, and soon more Filipinos, gain the freedom to choose their power supplier," he added.

FDC Misamis operates Filinvest Group's 405-megawatt baseload power plant in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, one of Mindanao's largest baseload generating facilities.

The plant has been supporting grid stability in the region since it began commercial operations in 2016.
