The Sandiganbayan has issued arrest warrants and hold departure orders against USWAG Ilonggo Partylist Rep. James “Jojo” Ang Jr. and former Sultan Kudarat Rep. Arnulfo Go in separate graft cases linked to alleged conflicts of interest and anomalous government projects.

Ang was charged with 14 counts of violating Section 3(h) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits public officials from having direct or indirect financial interests in government contracts in which they participated.

Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano said the charges stemmed from Ang’s alleged stake in a construction company that secured P214-million worth of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) contracts while he was serving in Congress.

“While sitting in Congress, Rep. Ang held a stake in a construction firm that won P214 million in DPWH contracts and was paid nearly P199 million for them,” Clavano said.

Go, on the other hand, was charged with graft and malversation in connection with alleged anomalies involving the former Priority Development Assistance Fund. Also named in the case were Lebak, Sultan Kudarat municipal officials Dionesio Besana, Allan Bayani and Mario Labrador.

The anti-graft court’s Third Division, which issued the warrants, also ordered the issuance of hold departure orders against the accused.
