Meta Platforms Inc. will invest an additional $40 billion to expand its artificial intelligence data center campus in Louisiana, bringing the project’s announced value to $50 billion.
The expansion will increase the Richland Parish campus to at least 5 gigawatts of computing capacity, making it Meta’s largest data center project to date.
The company said the facility will support its growing AI infrastructure and is expected to create 1,000 permanent jobs once fully operational. Meta added that it has already awarded more than $1.6 billion in contracts to Louisiana businesses since construction began in December 2024.
Bloomberg previously reported that Meta could ultimately spend more than $250 billion on the site, including computing chips and related infrastructure, though the company has publicly confirmed only the $50 billion investment.
