A police crackdown on illegal gambling led to the arrest of two tricycle drivers Monday in Caloocan City after officers discovered illicit drugs and an unlicensed handgun during the sweep, authorities said.
Officers from the Cadena De Amor Police Sub-Station 11 caught the two men, aged 22 and 30, allegedly playing an illegal dice game during a neighborhood crime-prevention sweep in Barangay 175. Both suspects are residents of neighboring Barangay 176.
During the arrest, police recovered two dice and P900 in betting cash.
A subsequent search of the 22-year-old suspect yielded approximately one gram of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P6,800.
Meanwhile, officers recovered an unmarked, serial-numberless .38-caliber revolver loaded with two live rounds of ammunition from the 30-year-old suspect.
Both men face criminal charges for illegal gambling.
In addition, the 22-year-old suspect faces drug possession charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, while the 30-year-old suspect faces charges for illegal firearms possession.
