Fans on alert: Typhoon Inday threatens rainy conditions for July 11 concerts

Typhoon Inday maintained its strength on Friday as it continued its northward movement toward the southern islands of Japan.
As of 4 p.m., the typhoon was located 525 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour, with gustiness of up to 170 kph, while moving north-northwestward at 20 kph.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 remains hoisted over Batanes, the eastern Babuyan Islands, and Santa Ana, Cagayan. Signal No. 1 is still in effect over the rest of Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, eastern Mountain Province, eastern Ifugao, northern Abra, and Ilocos Norte.
According to PAGASA, Typhoon Inday is expected to continue moving northwestward over the Philippine Sea and may pass closest to extreme northern Luzon from Friday night to early Saturday morning, as of this writing. Stormy conditions are expected in Batanes through Saturday, when Inday is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The typhoon-enhanced southwest monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rains over the western sections of the country through the weekend. Moderate to heavy rainfall may affect parts of Lanao provinces, Zamboanga del Sur, Negros, Western Visayas, MIMAROPA, western areas of CALABARZON and Central Luzon, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, and Metro Manila through Monday afternoon.
Authorities warned that widespread and serious flooding, along with possible landslides, may occur in affected areas.
