Security guard foils robbery in Las Piñas; stops armed attacker

A security guard foiled a robbery targeting a company collector in Las Piñas City on Monday, 29 June 2026, leading to the arrest of an armed suspect and the seizure of a loaded .38-caliber revolver, police said.
Initial investigations revealed that two armed suspects ambushed a 39-year-old collector who was about to remit an undetermined amount of cash to his employer, an electronic payment processing company along C5 Extension in Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno, at around 10:30 a.m.
As one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim and struck him on the head, a security guard immediately intervened to stop the attack.
The guard drew his issued firearm and shot the armed suspect, preventing the robbery. He then subdued the wounded suspect until responding police officers arrived.
The suspect's accomplice, described as wearing a white-and-red jacket, fled the scene on a motorcycle and remains at large. Police have launched a manhunt to locate and arrest the suspect.
The victim and the arrested 32-year-old suspect were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Crime scene investigators recovered the loaded .38-caliber revolver used in the robbery and processed the scene as authorities prepared criminal charges against the suspects.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin commended the security guard for his swift response, saying his actions helped protect the victim and led to the suspect's arrest.
Aberin also praised the responding police officers and concerned motorists who assisted during the incident.
"The courage of a highly vigilant security guard, backed by an immediate police response and the cooperation of responsible citizens, stopped these criminals in their tracks," Aberin said.
"The guard's willingness to risk his own safety to protect a citizen's life and company property is highly commendable. NCRPO remains committed to protecting the public through swift police action, strengthened community partnership, and sustained anti-criminality operations," he added.
Authorities are continuing follow-up operations to locate the fleeing suspect, while investigators are completing the documentation for the filing of appropriate charges.
