Through the calls to combat corruption in the country during the White Ribbon March, a lawmaker stressed that it was the time for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte to answer to the allegations being raised against them.

Appearing at the anti-corruption protest in Quezon City, ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio expressed that both Marcos and Duterte were now responsible for answering tough questions that the country has long sought answers for.

On the part of the president, Tinio brought up Marcos’ outstanding call during his previous State of the Nation Address (SONA) where the chief called out government officials that were involved in the multibillion pesos flood control scandal.

However, with the SONA right around the corner, the lawmaker stressed that there has yet to be any “big fish” that has been caught concerning the scandal.

“The people are here seeking accountability from you President Marcos. You said we should be ashamed…it is your administration that should be ashamed because until now there has been no big fish caught,” the solon told reporters.

“The big fish are in Malacanang, in the Senate, in Congress, his allies, some are being protected, it has been fully exposed. The people will continue to seek answers, now and up to the coming weeks,” he added.

As it currently stands, the Office of the Ombudsman has previously mentioned that it has filed a total of four cases against politicians linked to the flood control issue with the latest figure facing raps being Senator Jinggoy Estrada.

Notably, all the cases are currently undergoing trial at the Sandiganbayan.

On the other hand, Tinio mentioned that Duterte was also in the same boat of needing to be more open to addressing the numerous allegations raised against her through the process of impeachment.

Among the four Articles of Impeachment that were transmitted to the Senate, the solon circled out two accusations–the unexplained wealth and the misuse of confidential funds.

Tinio said that it was high time for Duterte to explain herself, particularly as it was the second time that she had been impeached.

“The time has arrived that Vice President Sara Duterte can no longer avoid her impeachment, it is time for her to explain herself before the impeachment court,” he said.

“The delaying tactics or raising technicalities can no longer work, it is time to reveal the truth behind your misuse of confidential funds and your undeclared and hidden wealth,” he added.

Tinio was among the numerous public figures that attended the program with fellow congressman Paolo Marcoleta, and various civic leaders participating.
