Alex Eala swiftly defeated Priscilla Hon of Australia, 6-0, 6-2, to advance to the Round of 16 of the Birmingham Open in England on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old Eala, who is seeded first, defeated her Australian foe in just 59 minutes in her first singles match in her grass court campaign of the year.
Eala will face Alina Charavea of Russia on Wedneaday with the time yet to be announced.
