Albert Ian delos Santos set a new world record in the men's 71-kilogram clean-and-jerk en route to two gold medals in the IWF Junior World Championships in Ismailia, Egypt early Tuesday (Manila time).
Delos Santos lifted 187kgs in the clean-and-jerk, eclipsing his previous record of 186kgs in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games in Thailand last December.
The-19-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga nativ also struck gold in his total lift after tallying 326kgs.
The Philippines now has a total of four gold medals, adding to the two silvers clinched by Angeline Colonia in the women's 48kg category last Saturday.
