House Speaker Faustino "Bojie" Dy III has released a statement upholding the safety and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
"OFWs are an integral part of our country and economy," Dy said, emphasizing the need to ensure their security and support, especially during crises such as the ongoing missile attacks involving Iran and Israel.
Dy urged relevant agencies, including the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), to ensure that contingency plans and assistance teams are fully operational. He also called for active communication lines to remain open for emergency response.
Furthermore, Dy advised Filipinos abroad to stay vigilant and strictly follow the advisories issued by the Philippine government.
"We continue to hope for a peaceful resolution to these tensions and firmly reaffirm that the safety and protection of our people will always be our foremost priority," the statement concluded.
