La Union showcases farm, fishery products at agri fair

The Provincial Government of La Union opened its 176th founding anniversary celebration with an Agri-Trade Fair and “Ang Pinaka! Agri-Fishery HarBEST” exhibits at the Mabanag Grounds on 23 February turning the venue into a showcase of local abundance and enterprise.

The fair aims to promote the province’s agricultural and fishery products while supporting local farmers, fisherfolk, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The annual event highlights the province’s continuing efforts to strengthen community-based industries and sustain La Union’s agricultural heritage.

Municipalities and cities across the province presented their best produce through creatively themed booths displaying tropical fruits such as papaya and saba bananas; assorted vegetables, including ampalaya, eggplant, squash, and pole sitao; and root crops like cassava, ube, and sweet potatoes.

The “Ang Pinaka!” Agri-Fishery HarBEST competition complemented the fair with an exhibit of top fishery products—tilapia, hito, bangus, and tuna—representing standout entries from various localities. The event recognized the quality and diversity of the province’s aquaculture output.

Provincial officials said the fair also functions as a marketplace connecting producers and buyers, expanding exposure and trade prospects for local entrepreneurs. It forms part of a broader initiative to link traditional industries with emerging business opportunities in the province.

The Agri-Trade Fair will continue alongside other anniversary activities aimed at promoting economic vitality and strengthening local pride under this year’s theme, “Rikna Ti Agkaysa.”
