Google has launched Lyria 3, a generative music model now available within Gemini, allowing users to create original 30-second music tracks using simple text prompts or uploaded images.
The tool enables users to describe a scene, mood or idea, after which Gemini generates a high-quality track complete with lyrics and cover art. Users can specify genre, tempo, vocal style and overall energy.
Lyria 3 is designed to function as a digital instrument powered by artificial intelligence. By entering prompts such as “a nostalgic 90s alternative track about a rainy day in Manila,” users can generate a custom soundtrack tailored to a specific vibe.
For those unsure how to describe their idea in text, Gemini also allows photo uploads. The AI then creates a melody that matches the mood of the image.
Users can refine results through additional prompts, adjusting elements such as vocals, instrumentation and energy levels. The system supports iterative editing, enabling granular control over the final output.
The launch reflects Google’s broader push to integrate generative AI into creative workflows, expanding beyond text and image generation into music production.
AI-generated music tools have gained traction globally, particularly among younger users and content creators seeking quick, customizable audio for short-form video, school projects and social media posts.
In the Philippines, where remix culture and short-form content are already widespread, generative tools like Lyria 3 may find immediate adoption among students and creators looking for copyright-safe background tracks.
Google positions Lyria 3 as a collaborative creative tool rather than a replacement for musicians, framing it as a way to help users experiment with ideas and develop soundscapes quickly.
The model generates 30-second tracks, a length suited for digital content platforms. Output includes lyrics and cover art, making it usable for sharing without additional design work.
Lyria 3 is now accessible through Gemini at gemini.google.com. Google has not yet detailed regional pricing or extended production capabilities beyond the current 30-second format.
The launch places Google alongside other technology companies racing to embed generative AI into everyday consumer creativity, from writing and image editing to now full music composition.
