CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — A student previously reported missing was found dead near Atugan Bridge along the Sayre Highway in Barangay La Fortuna, Impasugong, Bukidnon, on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim, identified by relatives as Claudine, was a student at a university in the province.
According to initial information, the student had sent a text message to friends indicating she was at the bridge prior to the incident.
“Besh, I am now at La Fortuna bridge. If my family looks for me, please tell them I love them,” the message read.
Concerned friends later went to the area, where the victim was discovered near the Atugan River.
Authorities have yet to release further details as investigations continue.
Earlier this year, a separate incident involving an individual attempting to jump from the bridge was reported, with police able to intervene.
Local officials noted that previous incidents have also been recorded at the site in past years.
