CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – An individual formerly associated with a Communist Front Organization has disengaged from the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front and voluntarily surrendered a firearm to authorities.
According to PCOL Marites A. Salvadora, provincial director of the Bataan Police Provincial Office, the development took place on 18 February in Barangay Lamao, Limay. It resulted from an anti-insurgency operation led by the BPPO.
“The operation involved a collaborative effort from various police and military units. This joint initiative led to the individual's formal disaffiliation and withdrawal of support from the communist movement,” Salvadora said.
As proof of his commitment to return to civilian life, the former rebel surrendered one caliber .357 Magnum revolver and two rounds of ammunition.
In support of his reintegration, the Bataan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company provided two sacks of rice and initial cash assistance. The aid aims to help him rebuild a peaceful and productive life.
Salvadora urged other members of Communist Terrorist Groups to follow suit, stressing the government’s commitment to assist those who choose to abandon armed struggle.
“The government remains steadfast in its efforts to assist those who genuinely seek to abandon armed struggle and reintegrate into society, choosing a path toward a brighter and more secure future,” she added.
