Dolphins let go of injured star

MIAMI (AFP) — The Miami Dolphins have cut star wide receiver Tyreek Hill from their roster as part of a major squad overhaul, the club confirmed on Monday.

Hill, who is recovering after suffering a gruesome season-ending knee injury last September, was among three players released by the team.

The receiver, who turns 32 on 1 March, spent four seasons with Miami after joining from the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022.

Hill — whose blistering speed earned him the nickname “Cheetah” — scored 27 touchdowns in 54 games for Miami and amassed 340 receptions for 4,733 yards.

He took the news of his departure in his stride, thanking the Dolphins while vowing to return to the National Football League.

“From the bottom of my heart, Thank You To the entire Miami Dolphins organization, my teammates, the staff, and most importantly Fins Nation, for an unforgettable four years,” Hill said on social media.

“Every chapter in life has taught me something. This one taught me leadership, resilience, and mostly gratitude. The love I have for this game is unexplainable,” he added. “The Cheetah will be back.”
