The Philippines secured two major country awards at the TripZilla Excellence Awards 2025, earning recognition as Best Dive Destination and Destination of the Year, while the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines was named Sustainability Leader of the Year.
Now in its 11th year, the TripZilla Excellence Awards recognize outstanding travel organizations and destinations across the region. The Philippines’ multi-award win underscores its continued appeal across leisure travel segments and its efforts to promote responsible tourism.
TPB chief operating officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles said the recognition reflects the country’s commitment to balancing tourism growth with sustainability.
“What sets Philippine tourism apart is our ability to inspire travelers while remaining accountable to the communities and environments that welcome them,” Nograles said.
“Through long-term partnerships and responsible tourism programs, we ensure that every visit creates value for travelers and for the communities that sustain our destinations. This recognition affirms that our work translates into tangible, lasting impact.”
The country earned Best Dive Destination for the second consecutive year, highlighting the strength of its marine tourism offerings and dive sites that continue to attract international travelers.
TPB, meanwhile, received Sustainability Leader of the Year for the fourth straight year, citing its continued efforts to integrate sustainability into destination marketing and tourism development. Among its initiatives is the Community-Based Tourism Marketing Enhancement Program, which supports local stakeholders and promotes community participation in the tourism value chain through partnerships with media, digital influencers and tour operators.
The sustainability push also extends to global platforms such as Expo 2025 Osaka, where Philippine artisanal textiles and curated local experiences are being showcased to international audiences.
After first winning in 2023, the Philippines reclaimed Destination of the Year, recognized for the diversity of experiences across the archipelago. TripZilla cited destinations such as Boracay, Palawan, Siargao and La Union, as well as heritage and culinary offerings that encourage travelers to explore beyond traditional routes.
