The Philippine Army’s (PA) 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade on Sunday conducted a Localized Peace Engagement at the headquarters of the 101st Infantry “Sajahitra” Battalion to reinforce the declaration of Gun-Free and Rido-Free communities in Omar and Luuk.

The event brought together 10 Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leaders, community representatives, and security partners. It was presided over by Brig. Gen. Alaric Avelino P. Delos Santos, Brigade Commander, and Lt. Col. Dante E. Mantes, Commanding Officer of the 101IB, with participation from the Omar Municipal Police Station, highlighting inter-agency cooperation in peacebuilding.

Discussions focused on unity, dialogue, and community responsibility in sustaining peace initiatives. MNLF leaders pledged their support for Rido-Free and Gun-Free programs and committed to promoting harmony in their communities.

Lt. Col. Mantes reaffirmed the battalion’s readiness to assist local stakeholders, while Brig. Gen. Delos Santos emphasized that lasting peace requires continuous dialogue and shared responsibility. Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of Joint Task Force Orion and the 11th Infantry Division, noted that cooperation between the military and community leaders is essential to preventing conflict and maintaining stability.

The activity concluded with the signing of a Pledge of Support, symbolizing the collective commitment of all stakeholders to uphold peace in Omar and Luuk.
