The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Sunday said that public safety protocols were strictly observed following an incident at Puerto Princesa International Airport on Saturday, 14 February.

An aircraft operated by Philippine Airlines (Flight GAP2788), bound for Manila from Puerto Princesa, experienced a landing gear issue shortly after departure.

As a precautionary measure, the aircraft returned to Puerto Princesa, landing safely at 7:12 p.m. Maintenance personnel immediately conducted troubleshooting procedures. After tests confirmed normal system operations, the aircraft was cleared for departure at 12:19 a.m. and arrived safely in Manila at 1:15 a.m.

The airline provided meals to passengers during the delay. Several passengers were accommodated on other flights, while 61 passengers and one infant continued their journey on the same aircraft.

CAAP reiterated its commitment to upholding the highest standards of aviation safety and ensuring the protection and well-being of passengers at all times.
