The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has released the driver involved in the incident in which a male student jumped to his death from the platform area of the FPJ LRT-1 Station on Wednesday, 11 February, at around 10:30 a.m.
QCPD Chief P/Brig. Gen. Randy Glen Silvio told the DAILY TRIBUNE that a thorough investigation and CCTV review showed no apparent indication of negligence on the part of the driver. Silvio added that the driver cooperated with authorities and was placed under police custody in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Philippine National Police (PNP), as the incident involved a fatality.
“This measure is part of the investigative process to ensure proper documentation and compliance with legal requirements,” Silvio said. “Moreover, the father executed a notarized letter stating that he is not pursuing a complaint against the driver. Thereafter, the driver was released from the custody of Traffic Sector 6 at 4:10 p.m. on 12 February.”
He added that the QCPD extends its sincere condolences to the bereaved family and assures the public of its commitment to conduct a fair, impartial, and transparent investigation.
