Gilas to hold lone Mindanao youth tryouts in Davao

DAVAO CITY — Gilas Pilipinas will hold the Mindanao Youth Boys Tryouts on 14 and 15 February at the Genesis 88 Gym.

Around 150 players from across Mindanao are expected to attend the two-day selection process, which is open to boys born on or after 1 January 2008, according to SBP-XI Zone 12 Assistant Zone Director for Technical Development Atty. Francis Calatrava during Thursday’s 12 February Davao Sportswriters Association Forum.

Gilas Pilipinas Youth coach Juno Sauler will personally oversee the tryouts.

Calatrava said a coaches clinic will also be conducted after the tryouts on the opening day.

“It will be the only Gilas Pilipinas Youth Boys tryouts for Mindanao. This will be a good avenue for the kids to showcase their skills and earn a slot in the Gilas Pilipinas Youth roster. Gilas Pilipinas Youth will be seeing action in different tournaments in and outside the country,” Calatrava said.
