Yusen Logistics Philippines will power its Parañaque head office entirely with renewable energy, tapping ACEN Renewable Energy Solutions (ACEN RES) as it advances its climate agenda.
In a stock exchange report on Wednesday, ACEN Corp. said the switch was enabled by the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), a voluntary initiative under the Renewable Energy Act of 2008 that allows eligible users to source all their power from licensed renewable suppliers like ACEN RES.
“By choosing to source 100 percent renewable energy through the Green Energy Option Program, Yusen Logistics demonstrates decisive leadership in decarbonizing the logistics sector,” Sheila Mina, Vice President and Head of Account Management at ACEN RES, said.
“We are also delighted to award them our ‘Powered by Renewable Energy’ badge, symbolizing their commitment to a cleaner future and encouraging more businesses to join the Philippines’ crucial energy transition,” she added.
Mitsutaka Matsubara, President of Yusen Logistics, said the company is steadily moving toward its climate targets, including cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 45 percent by 2030 from a 2022 baseline and achieving net zero emissions across all services by 2050.
ACEN RES remains the leading supplier under the GEOP with a 57 percent market share, according to the Energy Regulatory Commission’s latest Competitive Retail Electricity Market report.
