Anne Curtis took two years of intense training to perfect this role

At a press conference for Netflix Philippines, the television host and actress revealed that the series is emotionally draining and even more so physically.

“I think we’ve been training for two years now. Even today, we’re still training for fight scenes,” she said.

BuyBust, the original film, is a heart-pounding action thriller that plunges viewers into the perilous world of the Philippine drug war. Curtis portrays Nina Manigan, a tough and resourceful member of an anti-narcotics team, who finds herself trapped in a violent drug den alongside her squad. The film is packed with relentless action sequences, intense gunfights, and high-stakes tension.

BuyBust: The Undesirables, meanwhile, continues the pulse-pounding saga under the direction of Erik Matti. This nine-episode series delves even deeper into the dangerous world of crime and corruption, delivering non-stop action, gripping drama and jaw-dropping stunts. Anne returns as the vengeful ex-cop who teams up with a corporate outcast to take down a ruthless drug lord after a senator’s daughter is murdered.

“In this series, Nina starts off just as damaged as she was in the BuyBust film. That’s the beauty of female rage, you keep fighting for what you believe in,” Anne explained.

A major focus of the series is showcasing Filipino martial arts, particularly Sayoc, the traditional knife-fighting system. The cast underwent rigorous Sayoc training to make the fight scenes authentic, emphasizing precision, speed and strategy. 

Adding more star power to BuyBust: The Undesirables, Gerald Anderson joins the cast in a pivotal role, bringing intensity and charisma to the screen. His character raises the stakes, challenging Nina and her team in thrilling new ways, promising even more action, drama and unexpected twists.

Indonesian auteur Joko Anwar will also appear in the series.
