Police arrested a 23-year-old man Monday afternoon following a rooftop chase that began when he was caught on camera attempting to steal a cooking gas tank from a local business.

Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio announced the arrest of the suspect, identified as alias “Steve,” a resident of Barangay Pasong Putik.

The incident began Sunday at approximately 6:30 p.m. in Barangay Sacred Heart. The victim told police they received a mobile CCTV notification showing a man in the establishment’s kitchen area attempting to steal a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank.

Officers from the Kamuning Police Station responded to the scene after being alerted by village officials. Upon their arrival, the suspect attempted to flee by climbing onto neighboring rooftops.

Police said the suspect fell during the pursuit and was cornered by officers. He allegedly brandished an airsoft gun in an attempt to intimidate the authorities before he was successfully apprehended.

The suspect faces charges of attempted theft, malicious mischief, and grave threats. The case has been referred to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
