DMCI Mining Corp. is betting on continued growth after posting record nickel ore production of 2.0 million wet metric tons (WMT) in 2025, up 33 percent from 1.5 million WMT in 2024.

The Consunji Family-led company reported over the weekend that shipments rose 31 percent to 1.9 million WMT, marking the company’s second-highest level on record.

The increase was driven by higher output from its Zambales operations and the initial production at the Long Point mine.

“We are encouraged by the improving fundamentals of the nickel industry after a challenging period,” said DMCI Mining President Tulsi Das C. Reyes.

“The combination of our record production, strong prices and the continued progress of our Long Point development gives us solid growth prospects, both for the company and for our host communities.”

Average benchmark Philippine free on board laterite nickel ore prices for a 1.5 percent grade rose 26 percent year on year, from $36.3 to $45.7.

Guided by the country’s first approved Final Mine Rehabilitation and Decommissioning Plan for a nickel mine, subsidiary Berong Nickel Corporation has rehabilitated over 174 hectares to date, surpassing Year 3 targets.

The program is on track for completion in 2027, after which the area will be turned over to the government.

Last November, subsidiary Zambales Diversified Mining Corp. earned its second Presidential Mineral Industry Environmental Award, underscoring the group’s commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

DMCI Mining, a wholly owned subsidiary of DMCI Holdings, Inc., extracts nickel ore through surface mining and ships it directly to markets in China and other countries.

Its assets include Berong Nickel Corp. in Palawan, as well as Zambales Diversified Metals Corp. and Zambales Chromite Mining Company.
