Journalist Frenchie Mae Cumpio's lawyer files manifestation vs motion for reconsideration on the civil forfeiture case

Tacloban-based journalist Frenchie Mae Cumpio’s counsel, Atty. Julianne Agpalo of the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers, files a manifestation on behalf of Cumpio and co-accused layworker Marielle Domequil before the Court of Appeals in Manila on Friday, 6 February 2026, commenting the government’s motion for reconsideration in a civil forfeiture case. The filing comes a day before the sixth anniversary of their incarceration. The case is in regards to the seizure of P557,360 during a 2022 raid on their office in Tacloban. Cumpio’s camp argues the cash was not covered by the search warrant and is therefore inadmissible and should not have been used to justify targeted financial sanctions.
