The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Monday officially launched its podcast, “Truth Matters,” as part of efforts to rebuild public trust and address the spread of misinformation.

Speaking during the launch, NBI Director Angelito Magno said the initiative marks a “significant shift” in how the agency communicates and engages with the public.

“Today is not simply about unveiling a new platform. It is about taking a deliberate step forward in how we communicate, connect, and fulfill our mandate to the Filipino people,” Magno said.

The podcast will tackle a wide range of topics, including cybercrime awareness, frequently asked questions about NBI services, clearance processing, and discussions on resolved and historic cases.

Magno emphasized that public safety goes beyond enforcement and requires open communication.

“Safeguarding the public also means engaging with them—creating a space where truth can be explained, concerns can be heard, and trust can be built,” he added.

Magno also underscored the importance of the podcast amid the rise of cybercrime and ongoing concerns about corruption in government.

“For many years, we carried out our duties quietly, guided by strict protocols that protect the integrity of law enforcement and the cases entrusted to us,” he said. “But the world is changing, and so are the challenges before us.”

Magno added that as cybercrime becomes more sophisticated and corruption continues to undermine public trust, the need for greater public understanding, awareness, and accessible avenues for justice has become increasingly urgent.

The “Truth Matters” podcast will feature eight to 10 episodes per season and will be available on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok following the official launch of the NBI’s social media platforms.

The first episode is expected to be released in February.

Magno said the first four episodes have already been recorded and are scheduled for release within the month.

“We can inform, we can educate, and we can also listen to our public,” he said.
