The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is ready to back the Philippine Football Federation’s request to build more football stadiums in the country.
PSC chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio said he and PFF president John Gutierrez are in sync in terms of making sure they will be able to make the sport accessible to Filipinos.
“My role is to enable. To enable our national sports associations (NSAs), to enable athletes, and to convince international federations that the Philippines is ready to do its part,” Gregorio said.
“This is no longer just about asking for support. Today, NSAs come to us asking how they can work with PSC to help Philippine sports.”
“Let the kids play. Don’t just give them a ball. Give them a place to play.”
Gutierrez said they need land to build the pitches and everything else will follow.
“We can create more infrastructures. We need the land to build pitches. FIFA (International Football Federation), AFC (Asian Football Confederation), and AFF (ASEAN Football Federation) aren’t real estate companies,” Gutierrez said.
“They will provide the infrastructure if we can provide the land to put it on.”
